Hi, my name is Chocolate! I am a gorgeous tri-pawd (three legged) German Shorthaired Pointer. I am about a year and a half old and traveled all the way from Turkey to be your new best friend. A nice rescuer found me in the shelter when picking up a few other dogs, and knew she couldn’t leave me there. I had a broken leg that the shelter didn’t bother splinting, and by the time the nice rescuer got me to the vet, they had to have it amputated. While I may have had one rough past, I am happy to report that having three legs does not hinder my performance in the slightest. I can still run for miles, jump in and out of my fosters SUV, and play like any other dog with four legs… maybe even better!
My foster mom brags about how intelligent I am. I understand basic commands and am a very good listener. I quickly learned to play fetch and I understand people's food is not for me, though I will always welcome and sit nicely for one of those ‘dog treats’ my foster family talks about. Those are so good! Although, I’m not picky… food is food, and I will eat it all! I am so smart, that despite all the changes once I arrived from Turkey, I haven’t had any accidents in the house. I will of course need some additional direction and patience from my new family once I’m adopted until I learn where I am supposed to go potty, but I’m one smart cookie!
I am crate trained and love sleeping in my crate all night, but would also do very well just sleeping freely in the bedroom with my people. I love people and other dogs, and really haven’t met anyone I didn’t want to play and hang out with… well, except cats! I like to chase those, and I don’t think they have as much fun as I do! Because of this a home without cats or other small animals would be the best fit for me. I would just love a home with older kids and/or another doggie playmate! Some of my favorite hobbies including laying down in the yard to watch birds, taking lots of walks and runs, playing with both my human and doggie friends, and taking lots of car rides. After a day full of fun I love cuddling with my people and getting lots of scratches… my fur is so soft! I especially enjoy laying in the nice warm sun, or the cool kitchen tile.
The only thing my foster family tells me I could use some work on is my leash training. I like to pull when I get excited. I mean, how could I not be so excited to smell all these cool new smells? We are working hard and making progress in this area everyday, so I will just need a family dedicated to continuing this work and I’ll be even more amazing before you know it! I have an incredibly loveable personality and am an all around sweetheart. I am goofy, loyal, smart and friendliest girl ever.
If you think you can provide me with the activity, attention, and play I crave, and I sound like the perfect pup for you, please fill out an adoption application here: Adoption Application
