My name is Gabriella, an adorable 1 year old who is just about as wonderful as can be. I'm a golden retriever with a little something extra mixed in, but have all of the great golden traits. I made the long trip from Turkey to find my forever home. I was found with a couple other pups abandoned in a box in the forest. Fortunately a kind hearted person rescued us. Once I arrived in the US, I knew my wonderful new life had begun.
I sleep well every night. In fact, I settled in from the very first night… curled up and slept like a baby. I'm also potty trained!! I know the word potty now as long as you take me out as soon as I get up. And I am proud to say I haven't had a single accident! I'm a velcro dog for sure and love to be loved! I will follow you around everywhere you go. But I also love to be outside in the yard following my doggie foster sister around learning to hunt lizards. I also love to take naps in the shady grass areas.
I have medium energy, considering I'm technically still a puppy. I will play hard with my foster sister for a little bit then rest. I love walks but not too sure about the leash when my foster mom is trying to clip it on. Once it's clipped on, lets go!! I've also done a little running with my foster mom and do super good on the leash. My foster sister likes to stop and read pee-mail all the time, so our walks together are a bit slower. But we walk very good together.
I'm not too sure about car rides. Not exactly my favorite thing but trying to get the hang of it. I also was not crazy about my baths. I stood still when I was in the shower but I did my best to escape before I had my first one!
I would do well in a home with another dog, but would also make a good companion in an active, only-dog household with regular play dates or dog park visits. I get along with all of the dogs I meet.
A couple other things about me…I'm really into food! Some would call me a counter surfer, but we are working on it! My foster mom says I'm doing so much better about jumping to get food. Being food motivated also makes me easy to train, and I would love to take a training class with my new family. My foster mom says I learn quickly and am in the process of mastering ‘sit’ and ‘stay’! I also am very responsive to verbal correction, so if I get into something I shouldn’t, a quick ‘uh uh’ does the trick.
If you are looking for a super sweet, cuddly companion that is happy just to be with you and has an adorable personality, I might be THE one for you. If you're interested, please fill out an adoption application here: Adoption Application and one of our representatives will be in touch with you.
Please note: Due to the high cost of international travel, the adoption fee is $1,000. Gabriella is being fostered in San Diego, CA
