Hey everyone, my name is Orion!  I am an adorable 1 year old golden retriever puppy who traveled all the way from Turkey!  I am a typical puppy who loves to play and rough house.  I love to play with toys, and anything with a squeaker is my automatic best friend!  I am currently living with a small dog in my foster home, and I am ever so gentle when playing with her.  I am frequently found playing with my doggy foster sister and running around the yard.  Having another young, playful dog in my forever home will be important for me as I just love playing with other doggies.

Given that I am a puppy, I am still learning what is expected of me.  As a puppy, everything goes in my mouth, so it will be important for my forever people to keep items they wouldn’t want chewed up high, as well as to have a lid on their trash cans!  I like to pick up and chew things like shoes, but I can be easily redirected to chewing on my toys instead.  I do jump up on my people for attention and can be mouthy at times.  I am receptive to corrections, but I will need gentle guidance and consistency in this area in my forever home.  Because of these puppy behaviors I would do best in a home without young kids. I am a smart puppy who is eager to learn.

My potty training is going great in my foster home…I haven't had an accident in weeks! I do have access to a nice grassy yard during the day, however, so it will be important for me to have access to a yard in my forever home, too.  I am very food motivated, and love to learn new things.  Being a young, energetic dog, I would greatly benefit from going to positive reinforcement training classes with my forever family.  I am still getting used to being walked on leash, but I absolutely love going out and being in the fresh air.  I do pull on leash, but with some work and the use of a gentle leader head collar or harness I can definitely get better in this area.  I do get a little nervous when hearing noises on walks, but my foster mom says I'm getting better every day!  Lots of daily exercise and socialization will be important for me in my forever home as I just love meeting new people/dogs and being outdoors.  I love to enjoy a good walk and then come home and cuddle with my foster mom.  I am a big cuddle bug and love to be around all humans all the time.

When I arrived from Turkey I had subluxation in my left hip.  About 6 weeks ago I had hip surgery (femoral head ostectomy) to fix it, and I am doing great!  I am still healing, and will need some help to get to be 100%.  My forever family will need to make sure I get daily walks and play to strengthen my muscles, and I need to stay healthy and trim.  In order to make sure my right hip stays healthy, too, I should be taking glucosamine.  Other than that, I don’t have any limitations.    I can’t wait to find my dream forever family that is looking for a goofy, cuddly, energetic doggy that would love to accompany them on adventures.  If I sound like I could be the one for you, and you have all the things I am looking for in my forever home, please fill out an adoption application here::: Adoption Application
