6 years old
Meet Polli, a 6-year-old poodle mix that was surrendered to the shelter back in February. Polli was completely shut down in the shelter and trembled nonstop. We knew we couldn’t leave her there, so we pulled her from the shelter and brought her to a wonderful foster home. Polli has settled with her foster family and is getting more confident each day. She did not have an easy life before coming into rescue. She was very malnourished, and is still trying to get to her ideal weight. It is likely is was abused in her earlier life, as well, as she can be scared of sudden movements, new people, and loud noises. She is still learning to trust people, so she can be slow to warm up. She is well worth the wait, though, as once she comes out of her shell she wants to be with you at every turn.
Polli really enjoys cuddling with her people and doggy foster sister and is very much a Velcro dog. She is full of affection and gives her foster family kisses all the time to show them how grateful she is. She also loves her playtime and enjoys running around the backyard with her doggy foster sister and even pulling at her foster sister’s tail now and again to tell her she wants to play. Polli is a very smart girl that is eager to learn with the right approach. She needs a calm environment with people that know she will need time to adjust and feel comfortable before her true personality comes out. She has been doing well with potty training in her foster home. Of course, she will need additional direction in the beginning in her forever home, but she’s a people pleaser and learns quickly. She enjoys her walks with her foster sister and walks very well on leash.
Polli would do very well with another dog similar in size and temperament in her forever home. Polli is currently living with three human foster brothers ranging in ages 6-10 years old and she does very well with them. Her foster brothers are very respectful, and she’s grown to love them. Polli would do well with children over the age of 5 years old who understand the need to be calm a slow with her in the beginning. Socializing and training will be key to Polli’s adjustment in her new home. With some time and love she will make a fabulous addition to just about any family.
