Hello there future friends!  Let me introduce myself… My name is Sawyer. I am a super adorable 1 ½ year old terrier mix.  I came into rescue when my previous owners realized they couldn’t care for me anymore.  I know I'm a special boy, so I kept my head held high and made my way to a wonderful foster home, where I have been settling in over the last several weeks.  In my old home I spent most of my time outdoors, which made me sad because I really just wanted to be with my family all the time.  Need to make your morning coffee?  I’m there!  Want to go for a walk or hike?  Don’t you worry, I’ll make sure you don’t forget me!  I am the ultimate adventure buddy and velcro doggie.

I didn’t get the opportunity to meet many new dogs, people, or to be introduced to new environments, so change makes me a bit nervous.  Loud noises and quick movements scare me, but wanna know a secret?  Treats are the way to my heart!  So,  just provide me with that yummy snack and all is forgiven.  I take a little while to warm up and get spooked when people try to pet me on the top of my head, but give me chin scratches and a few hours to get comfortable and I’ll warm right up!  Once I’m settled in I love attention and will happily cuddle up next to you on the couch.  I adjust to whatever mood my people are in.  If you want to go for a long hike or outdoor adventure, I’m game, but I can also be a very easy-going doggie who’s just happy to hang out with you.  All I want is an active family to love, and spend time with.

Despite living outdoors in my old home, I have great house manners.  I am good about telling my foster mom when I need to go potty, though I will need some time and direction in my new home until I get on a schedule and know where I am supposed to go potty.  I love my daily walks and am very smart.  I may be a little timid, but I pick new things up very quickly and with some more exposure, I will be an even better companion… If that’s even possible!  I would greatly benefit from going to training classes with my forever family and accompanying them on different things to help boost my confidence.

I do well with other dogs, but because I haven't had a lot of socialization, I don’t really understand social cues around other dogs.  I would do well in a home with a confident, non-dominant, mellow dog, or as an only pup with lots of socialization opportunities!  Totally sold myself, right?  I can’t wait to find my dream family!  If you think you could be the forever family I’ve been waiting for, and I sound like the right doggie for you, please fill out an adoption application here: Adoption Application and my people will get back to you.

NOTE: Sawyer's adoption fee is $500
He is being fostered in Redondo Beach, CA.
