Lilikoi (Lily for short) is an absolutely beautiful, adorable, funny, silly, wiggly-bottom, 1-year-old gal! Her birthday is June 13, so she had a big party to celebrate!
At 6 months old she was purchased from a breeder, but soon after she got a urinary tract infection (UTI) that upset her kidneys. The purchaser returned her to the breeder, who could no longer sell her so she joined our rescue. Her labwork has improved significantly since she got the UTI and our vet says she will continue to improve with the right dog food. Lily is on prescription kidney diet, which is only a bit higher priced than quality dog food, and she must continue that and only that food. Her only treats should be her special food kibble. Her new family will need to be committed to that and to having her bloodwork checked at her veterinary checks ups twice a year, and with that care she should live a great life. Lily is a happy, carefree girl who just wants to be loved.
Everything is new to Lily and she can be a little shy initially meeting new people, but she will warm up quickly. She loves pets and cuddles, but most of all she enjoys exploring and running and being silly. She lives with two male dogs, a 3-year-old Samoyed and a 2-year-old Golden Retriever, and she loves to play with them and nudge them. She is learning how to play properly from them. She also knows when to just chill too. As a young girl, she sleeps in a crate at nighttime.
Lily is a little girl at only 51 lb and she may gain 5 or so lbs to be full grown. She enjoys walks and does so nicely - occasionally she will run to the end of the leash, but a little pull and she comes back. She is very submissive with other dogs and will roll over when first meeting them. We don't think she needs another dog in her home, but she will need the chance to interact and play with other dogs, so if you have a doggy day care or friends/family who have a playful dog, that would be great for her.
Lily has only had 1 accident in her foster home within the first few days of being there. She gets a lot of praise and direction for running to the grass right after sleep, play and dinner to do her business…and she is a fast learner. She knows sit but can be a little slow sometimes in follow through so a training at a local place with her new family would be a lot of fun for her - remember though, only her special kibble as treats!
Lilly will be spayed soon, and will be available for adoption once she heals. Lily would be a wonderful addition to a loving family and she cannot wait to meet you and be your loving girl.
