Beautiful Pippa found herself as part of a large group of dogs that was confiscated from one property in Piñon Hills and ended up at the Devore shelter. All were fearful, wouldn’t walk on leash, and shut down. Because of this, all these dogs were ‘rescue only’. Once Pippa had her freedom ride away from the shelter, her decompression began.
When Pippa first got to her foster home, she found comfort in the foster’s 2 dogs and she continues to look to them for guidance. We are looking to place her with a family who has a confident mentor dog for Pippa. She walks very well on leash and enjoys walking with her pack. Pippa is learning how fun toys are, especially plush toys and balls.
Pippa has learned to use the dog door, but will most likely need a refresher when she moves to her forever family. At just about a year old, she is still very much a puppy that needs guidance. She will pick things up like paper and remote controls, so things of value need to be put out of reach. Right now she is a fairly calm girl, but we expect her to have more energy as she feels more comfortable.
Some things do frighten Pippa, like sudden movements and loud noises, so she will need a patient family who will help her feel safe. She is quite intimidated by the energy that young kids have, so we will be looking for an adult only family or one with older, mellow kids. Pippa is blossoming more each day, but is still a pup who will need gentle guidance and patience as she experiences life.

Note: Pippa tested positive for anaplasma (a tick-borne illness) and will be spayed after she completes her antibiotics. If she is adopted before she is spayed, the rescue will cover the cost of the spay at one of our vets.
