We’d like to introduce you to Gia, a beautiful 2 year old chunky golden girl who recently came into rescue. She had a family, along with 2 other doggie siblings, but they decided they didn’t want the dogs any longer so they left the gate open and hoped all 3 would run away. Gia’s 2 siblings made it to a good samaritan’s house, who was kind enough to keep them safe until we were able to pick them up. Gia, on the other hand, kept going back home. Recently, that same Good Samaritan who helped with the other 2 dogs spotted Gia being literally pushed out of the gate. When the owner was confronted he admitted they didn’t want the dogs and tried to get them to run away. Once safely in rescue, Gia has settled in beautifully and you’d never know came from a ‘family’ who didn’t want her.
Gia is a complete love. She’s very sweet with people and gets along great with other dogs. It was clear she lived outside at her former home as she was timid to come inside her foster home initially, but after a couple days she began understanding how warm and cozy it was to be inside.
Gia enjoys her walks, and is learning not to pull on leash. At 86 lbs she definitely needs to lose some weight, so daily walks and a healthy diet will be important. She loves stuffed toys and getting all the love that’s being offered. She will play fetch, too. She’s a bit hesitant to get into a car, but is getting better with practice and going to fun places. She’s a good passenger once she’s in the car.
Gia is a wonderful houseguest at her foster home. She hasn’t had any potty accidents, and just chills at home with her doggie foster brothers when her foster mom is working.
As you can see in the pictures, there is some staining on the fur around her right eye. That’s because she has entropion (where the eyelid is turned inside and the eyelashes irritate the eye). She will be having that surgically corrected soon when she’s spayed on 11/21.
