Meet Poppy!  A petite 31 lb, 2 1/2 year old English Setter mix who is blessed to have one black ear and one white ear. In typical setter fashion, her favorite thing is to scour the yard for critters; she will even point sometimes!  

Poppy’s ‘family’ abandoned her at a shelter in Turkey when their grandparents moved in. It’s clear she missed them as she craves human attention. She will curl up in or by your lap on the couch and nod off straight away.  She loves belly rubs and kisses and cuddles. Poppy sleeps on a dog bed and really enjoys it - in your bedroom, in the living area, even the kitchen during the day. Wherever there is a dog bed, she will find it.  She is housebroken and learned the doggy door to outside all on her own.  

Poppy is a little wary meeting new people - she will bark and stay back, but once comfortable with you she will enjoy your pets and lovings…and even ask you for attention. She gets very excited to see her foster mom in the mornings after sleeping all night, or when she returns from work or an errand.  Poppy lives harmoniously with two big dogs, but she doesn't really want to play with them. And, initially, just with people, she doesn't want to be crowded by them.  So, we think she would be great as your only dog, or with another dog who won't expect her to be their playmate.  She enjoys her food and treats and is learning sit and down, but has had no training to this point so a nice basic obedience class would be a great way to bond.   

Poppy loves going on walks and adventures. She’s good in the car, and also walks well on leash. Daily exercise and opportunities to sniff around would be best for her. While she’s got energy for long walks and hikes, she is mellow and chill in the house…so a great combination!
