This adorable 10 month old Labrador (possibly mix) came to us from the San Bernardino City shelter where she was found as a stray. One of our volunteers was at the shelter and happened to see Sweet Pea. She was kenneled with other dogs, and she was terrified as so many dogs are in that environment. We knew we had to get her out of there and into a much better place, so that’s exactly what we did!
Our volunteer who sprung her from the shelter named her Sweet Pea because it describes her perfectly. She adores affection and being close to her people. She leans in for love. She lacks confidence, and seeks out friendly dogs to be with. She will definitely need another confident and playful dog in her forever home. For example when we moved her to a new foster home, she pancaked on the ground after we got her out of the car. As soon as she saw the foster’s dog she lit up, started walking, and was much happier.
Sweet Pea is all puppy, and will need the guidance and gentle direction in order to thrive. We are working with her to be comfortable in a crate, but she is not quite there yet. Someone home most of the time to provide her with the training and guidance she needs would be best. Sweet Pea enjoys her walks and exploring new places. She rides well in the car once she’s in, but may need help getting in the car until she knows the routine.
She loves toys, is learning to play fetch, running around the yard playing with her doggie sibling, and rolling in the grass. She wants to sleep in bed with her people, and cuddle on the couch watching TV. She learned to use the dog door for potty breaks at her first foster home, but may have an accident or two until she gets used to a new environment. She is a moderate energy pup who will thrive with daily exercise and play, and most of all lots of love.
