Meet Ares 🐾

Ares is a 2–3 year old male Golden Retriever who was found wandering the streets in Düzce, a city near Istanbul, Turkey. A woman discovered him while she was out shopping. Although he had a collar, no one appeared to be looking for him and he was not microchipped. She mentioned that he was chewing on things and kept him outdoors regardless of the weather, where he was sadly being neglected.

Thankfully, a Good Samaritan reached out to our Turkish rescuer who works alongside @rovers_retreat, and Ares was able to get the help he needed. After a long 14+ hour flight, Ares made his way to America and is now safe in his foster home, waiting for his forever family.

Despite his difficult start, Ares is the sweetest boy. He loves people and other dogs, greeting everyone he meets with nonstop tail wags and the happiest butt wiggles. He adores following his foster sister around and is a total love bug.

Ares has been doing great in foster care. He hasn’t had any accidents in the house and has already learned how to sit. He would do best in a home with another canine companion who can help guide him and build his confidence. We are looking to place him in a home with another playful dog. Ares walks well on leash, though he is a strong boy and may pull at times, but with gentle redirection he does very well.

Ares is a young, active boy who needs daily walks and play, and lots of love. He’d be a great adventure buddy, too. Now, all Ares needs is a loving home to give him the happy ending he deserves. 💛
