This precious little golden mix is Candy, an appropriate name since she is very sweet. Candy originally came to us from Turkey where she was surrendered by her family who fell on hard times. Fortunately our rescuer took her in and cared for her until she could fly to California. Candy was adopted but unfortunately it was not the right fit for her, so she is back in rescue now searching for her forever family.
Candy is adorable, happy, and petite (48 lb, but should lose a few lbs). She craves attention, loves being petted and cuddled. She loves toys and hanging out with her foster doggie brother, especially running around the yard and rolling in the grass. She walks very well on leash and gets very excited about her walks. Candy is currently getting 2-3 walks a day, and loves exploring. She enjoys car rides and adventures, but may be a little hesitant to get in a tall vehicle. Fortunately she’s small enough to be picked up!
Candy gets along very well with people and dogs, but strongly prefers a quiet and relaxed household. Kids tend to make her anxious and she hides to get away from the noise and fast movements. We will not be placing Candy in a home with young kids or one that’s very busy and noisy. If you give Candy the time to settle in and get comfortable, she will be your shadow and your best friend. Candy is food/treat motivated and eager to please.
One of Candy’s favorite things is having access to a fenced yard with grass. She plays, runs, rolls around, and goes in and out of the house during the day. She is quite agile, and happily runs after toys and plays chase with other dogs. Candy is moderate energy and pretty chill, especially after her walks.
Candy’s ideal future home would have someone around most of the time and a calm, adult only home. She needs daily walks and play, and a couch to cuddle up on with her person. Due to her love of running/rolling around in the grass, we would like her to have a fenced yard with grass.
