Some dogs just grab your heart and never let go, and Cowboy is one of those dogs. Cowboy was rescued from a private shelter in Turkey when one of our amazing volunteers visited and spotted him. His story is a sad one…he was purchased as a puppy, but soon after that he was abandoned at a vet clinic when his owners found out he had distemper. Fortunately he survived and a private shelter kept him safe. Cowboy is now a healthy and happy boy. All that’s remains from his distemper is an involuntary twitch in his mouth that makes him look like he’s talking. :)
Cowboy is one of the sweetest, happiest, and silliest boys you’ll meet. He loves people, loves dogs, and even gets along with cats. He’s a moderate energy boy who enjoys his walks and adventures, and taking in all the sights/sounds/smells the world has to offer. He enjoys visiting new friends when out on walks, and is learning how fun toys can be - especially playing fetch. He loves playing with other dogs, and would thrive with a doggie playmate.
Cowboy is food motivated and eager to please. He has been known to counter surf a bit, so it’s best to put all the yummy food out of reach. He hasn’t had any potty accidents at his foster home and has been a wonderful houseguest. His favorite activities are going on walks, playing, getting brushed/loved on by his people, and making new friends.
If you’re interested in making Cowboy part of your family, please complete an adoption application. Questions can be directed to nancy@roversretreat.org
NOTE: Cowboy’s adoption fee helps offset the extremely high cost of international transportation, extensive vetting done in his home country, and the CDC’s requirements for importing dogs.
