Meet Ellie Mae 🐾
Ellie Mae is a fun-loving, energetic 8-month-old Golden Retriever who is ready to find a family of her own! Ellie is new to rescue and, through no fault of her own, spent her early months as a backyard pup. Her previous family simply didn’t have the time she needed. Now, Ellie is discovering what it’s like to be part of a family—and she absolutely loves it!
Ellie is currently in a foster home with two Labs, two cats, and one very sassy Poodle, and she gets along wonderfully with everyone. More than anything, Ellie just wants to be part of the group. Since she didn’t grow up around other dogs, she is still learning how to play and interact with her new canine friends. Right now, she tends to play from the sidelines, watching and slowly working up the courage to join in. She frequently checks in with her foster mom to make sure she’s doing the right thing before jumping into the fun. It’s incredibly sweet to watch her learn!
Because Ellie is learning how to be a dog and build confidence with other dogs, a home with another friendly, playful dog is required. Her future doggy sibling should be patient and willing to help show Ellie the ropes while she continues developing her social skills.
Ellie is still very much a puppy, so she is also learning the basics of being a well-mannered family member. She is working on potty training, basic commands, leash walking, and taking treats gently. She is making progress and is eager to learn, but her adopter will need to be committed to continuing her training, socialization, and confidence-building.
One of Ellie’s biggest strengths is her sweet, loving nature. She is wonderful with children aged 7+, enjoys being around her people, and simply wants to please you. She is learning that treats should be taken gently, although she still has plenty of adorable puppy moments!
When it’s time to settle down, Ellie can sleep peacefully in her crate or snuggled up on a bed with her person. She is affectionate, cuddly, and happiest when she can be close to her humans.
Ellie Mae is looking for someone who understands that puppies take time, patience, consistency, and commitment. In return, you’ll get a loving girl who is eager to learn, eager to please, and excited to discover all the wonderful things life has to offer.
Ellie Mae is ready for her next chapter—and she would love nothing more than to find a family who will help her grow into the amazing dog she is meant to be. ❤️🐾
Ellie is scheduled to be spayed in early September. If she’s adopted prior to being spayed, the rescue will cover the cost of the spay at one of our vets. If you’re interested in Ellie, please complete our adoption application. Questions can be directed to nancy@roversretreat.org
