Meet Roxy, a beautiful golden girl who came to us recently from Turkey. She was found at a private shelter, and fortunately our rescuer scooped her up and now she is ready to live the life she deserves. Our vet in Turkey said she is most likely a distemper survivor as her right front paw periodically twitches, mostly when she’s lying down or sleeping. She is a healthy and happy girl who will bring endless love and joy to her new family.
Roxy is a super sweet, balanced girl who loves people and other dogs. She enjoys her daily walks and is always up for an adventure. She’s good in the car, too. She is very smart and treat motivated. Roxy is a medium energy girl whose favorite activities are playing with other dogs and playing fetch.
Roxy is one of those dogs that connects deeply with her person. She loves affection (especially hugs and kisses) and communicates through her eyes and paws. She hasn’t had any potty accidents at her foster home and will actually come tell her foster mom when she needs to go out. She also tells her foster mom when she’s hungry and it’s time to eat!
On leash Roxy may bark at approaching dogs, and that is likely because in Turkey they aren’t restrained from meeting other dogs. However, she has zero aggression and just wants to be friends and play with everyone. Some new noises or fast moving things can spook her a bit and she will bark, but as she becomes more settled in that will subside.
Roxy would do best with a yard and a doggie playmate at her forever home. If you are interested in our beautiful girl, please complete our adoption application. Questions can be directed to nancy@roversretreat.org
NOTE: Roxy’s adoption fee helps offset the extremely high cost of international transportation, extensive vetting done in her home country, and the CDC’s requirements for importing dogs.
